Welcome to the Nihewan Youth Council on Race. We appreciate your
time, and your thoughts and feelings about race and culture, and
we thank you for participating. This Welcome letter is intended
to let you know what we are hoping to do, and how you can help,
just by being yourself.
The website and the Chat Rooms and Discussion Forums we will provide
are yours to discuss race and culture issues with others of your
own age group, ages 12-20. Aside from a Survey and occasional general
questions, adults will not be the ones who decide what the important
issues about race are: you will.
We hope that the website interactions will be:
- Youth
led
- Inclusive
of as many racial/cultural groups as we can recruit
- Relevant
to your community and your life
- Emotionally
open to 'positive' and 'negative' feelings
- Respectful
to all participants, even when heated
- Stimulating
to you, the participants
- Transformative
towards good changes in your life, your world
- Helpful
to you and yours
- Creative and
thought provoking
Everybody is welcome
to answer our Questionnaire, offer input for discussion topics, leave
messages for us at info@youth.nihewan.org,
Members of our Youth Council on Race can click on the Youth Council
button, and use your Password to participate in protected Discussions
and Chat Rooms.
